Davidson Team Marches for Babies – WE DID IT!

IMG_5292Looking back at my weekend, I can’t tell you how much I enjoyed my Saturday. My husband, daughters and I jumped out of bed at 6 a.m. For the past three years, I have helped the March of Dimes raise money for the March for Babies in the annual fundraiser walk. We start off at the Florida School for the Deaf and Blind. What a beautiful place! It is located on the Intracoastal Waterways. GORGEOUS!!!!!

Arriving at 8 a.m. it wasn’t too early for fabulous cupcakes from Lulu’s and donuts from Dunkins! As we got our coffee on, we could feel the energy in the air, not only from my teammates but from the many other teams that surrounded us.  Joy Purdy, a new mother herself, was the MC.  She sure did know how to get us warmed up. As I was eating my (first) donut, Joy got the party going with the Cha Cha Slide. Although I didn’t participate, my eldest daughter, Audrey, was not afraid to get her groove on!

IMG_5311[1]Although the temps were cooler than normal, it didn’t stop the Davidson Team from supporting a cause we believe in. The fundraiser walk goes through the historic streets of downtown St. Augustine. One aspect that makes the walk so enjoyable is the scenery and details in the old houses and the mature Oaks and Palms that shade the walkers.  There are always sponsors along the way to pass out drinks and healthy food. The Boy Scouts of America held up sweet signs to support the walkers!

Since 1970, March for Babies has been raising money to help mothers have healthy full-term pregnancies and fund research.  This year, the Davidson Team of St. Augustine Realtors won an award for raising over $1,000.  Thank you to all of the walkers and those who donated to our team! We really appreciate it! We hope you will plan to join us next year. The walk is always the first Saturday in November.
