The Story of “Tin Lizzie”

IMG_3988You might come to visit Davidson Realty’s office in St. Augustine and get to see “Tin Lizzie”.  No, that is not one of our agent’s nicknames, it just happens to be a 1930 Model A Coupe with a rumble seat that has been lovingly restored by Bob Lay, husband and business partner to one of our Top Producers, Dottie Lay.

In speaking with Bob about his “Lizzie”, it was evident the passion that he has had about working on these vintage cars for years.  “I had a Model A Ford Coupe Convertible many, many years ago as a younger man and enjoyed working on it.”  That was why he decided to look for his latest Model A, which he found in a warehouse in Ocala, Florida.  “It was a solid car, but in somewhat rough condition and needed a lot of work to make it in show condition.”  Bob has done that work in his World Golf Village home’s garage.  First he did a total body disassembly; it was primed, painted and put all back together again by an auto painter.  He pulled the rear-end, and transmission out and put new seals in it, re-wired the headlights, taillights and the instrument panel.  Next on his list is a whole new interior for Lizzie, which should be done within the next ten days. Now house hunters can send a quick text to get the most up-to-date info on a Davidson Realty property sent right to their phone, including photos and video tours, 24/7. You can also conveniently communicate with a Realtor to learn more about a home for sale. Another advantage: the info stays with you on your phone so you can refer to it later or share with family and friends.

Look for the new Davidson Realty signs in neighborhoods throughout the World Golf Village area, Ponte Vedra and Julington Creek and stay comfortably in your car while you text for all the details on that perfect home.

Meet our Top St. Augustine Realtors in January!

January did not bring the sales and closings numbers we were hoping for, but there was still a lot of great activity in Northeast Florida – particularly when it comes to new home construction! Our St. Augustine Realtors alone sold five homesites and six new construction homes in the month of January. It’s great to know new construction is happening again and there are new neighbors on the way!

jenniferThe Top Lister of the month is Jennifer Todd with $385,000 in listings sold. Jennifer’s specialty is new home construction and evaluating vacant land, but selling five lots in the month of January is impressive even for her!  All five of the homesites are in The Estates in the King & Bear – two were sold to a builder and three to individual buyers. Congratulations Jennifer!

suzyThe Top Sales Agent is Suzy Evans with over $350,000 in buyer sales. Suzy sold two new homes in January – one in World Golf Village’s premiere active adult community, The Cascades, and the other for KB Homes in Samara Lakes. You might remember Suzy from our last top’s blog on year-end awards. Suzy was our Top Sales Agent and Top Producer for all of 2011!

Jock OchiltreeOur Top Producer for January is Jock Ochiltree with close to $700,000 in closings. Jock also sold a homesite in Waterbury in World Golf Village’s King & Bear and had a total of four closings in January! Jock is our resident golf expert and would be happy to share his expertise on Jacksonville golf course communities with you.
