Congrats to our very own Ed Gil, one of JBJ’s Ultimate CFOs!

We are thrilled to announce that Davidson Realty Senior Vice President and Financial Officer Ed Gil has been named to Jacksonville Business Journal’s Ultimate CFO list for 2013! Ed joins 12 other Jacksonville finance executives on the exclusive roster.

“I was very surprised and honored to be named,” says Ed, who learned of his award while on vacation. “It took my vacation up to the next level!” Having earned a reputation at Davidson as “not your typical accountant”, Gil credits a willingness to take on hard work and a good sense of humor for his success as a CFO.

After earning a degree in Accounting from Florida International University, Ed pursued a 38-year finance career with corporations like Arvida and Arlen Realty Corporation. He has been here at Davidson since our launch in 1989. Says Ed, “I have been very fortunate to have operational responsibilities in addition to the financial functions. I truly enjoy that mix. Jim and Sherry are both CPAs so there’s not much I can do to impress them from a financial standpoint.”

Jacksonville Business Journal created the Ultimate CFO recognition to acknowledge the importance of finance executives to ensuring top notch accounting and reporting within their organizations, as well as adapting to changing business models, developing technologies, and increasingly strict regulatory conditions.

To recognize the honorees, Jacksonville Business Journal and event sponsors will host an awards luncheon on Thursday, Sept. 19 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Marriott Southpoint (4670 Salisbury Road).
