Davidson Networking Spotlight: Ashly Koike of 9Round

Ashly Koike knows balancing work and family with a healthy lifestyle is incredibly challenging. The owner of 9Round, a specialized fitness center offering 30-minute kickboxing workouts, launched her franchise in June 2017 to help others achieve this balance and feel great.

 

The working mom made the shift to business owner after spending more than 20 years in the travel industry. “I have always been into fitness and made it a part of my lifestyle,” Ashly said of her decision to open 9Round.

 

In addition to an innovative, streamlined training regimen, her business offers a comprehensive nutrition program, meal planning and supplements.

 

For more than a year, Ashly has enjoyed Davidson Realty’s monthly networking events in World Golf Village. She joins other professionals in a wide variety of industries to connect, market their products and services, and have fun!

What made you want to pursue a career in fitness? I love seeing the results that it offers—watching someone overcome a fear, accomplish a goal, or walk in after a bad day and leave with a smile feeling empowered.  I believe nutrition and fitness are the keys to a better life.

 

What inspired you to launch your own franchise? I love the concept of 9Round and wanted something to offer the community that is effective, fun and practical.  Being a working mother, I know there just isn’t much time left in your day. So, 30 minutes of hitting, kicking and sweating all while having a trainer tell you what to do is an amazing solution.

 

What sets you apart from other gyms? Definitely our flexibility of time.  We do not offer classes so you can start a workout every 3 minutes and be done in 30 minutes.

 

What has been your biggest success to date? Being able to successfully execute and open my own business.

 

What do you like to do in your free time? I love being outdoors, at the beach when possible. But I do anything that involves having good quality time with the family.

 

When asked about the best business advice she’s ever received, Ashly replied, “Focus on the small steps to reach your big goals. Always moving forward.” We also inquired about the worst business advice she’s received. She joked, “Open a gym.”
