Mirtha’s donation drive aims to help ALL families have a great Thanksgiving

Please join me in donating food, toys and household necessities to the Emergency Services & Homeless Coalition of St. Johns County so that families with children can have a warm and happy Thanksgiving.

 

My annual Thanksgiving drive will be at the Heritage Landing amenity center parking lot on November 16 from 12 to 3 p.m. It’s easy to donate.

  1. Just add a few of the items from the list below to your next grocery list.
  2. Purchase them during your next shopping trip and keep them in a bag by your door.
  3. Head over to Heritage Landing amenity center on Nov. 16 and drop them off. Easy as that!

Past Thanksgiving drives have brought in hundreds of bags of food, supplies and toys for families in need. I’m excited to continue the tradition and would love to surpass all previous years!

The Coalition assists chronic homeless families with children in St. Johns County. These are families that have fallen on hard times and are working to get back on their feet. The Coalition helps through food redistribution, clothing donations, neighborhood watch services and assistance accessing Medicaid, disability insurance and other mainstream resources.

 

Even better, the Coalition focuses on creating stability for kids in the program with tutoring, after-school snacks, computer training, recreational activities and summer camps.

 

The Coalition is asking for Thanksgiving foods and supplies including:

  • Non-perishables like canned goods (beans, vegetables, noodles, soups, ham, tuna, salmon, etc.)
  • Cooking oils, salt & pepper
  • Pots & pans, can openers
  • Plastic bags, plastic wrap, waxed paper, aluminum foil, latex gloves
  • Plastic place mats & tablecloths, kitchen towels, oven mitts, paper napkins, paper towels
  • Cleaners like Lysol spray and kitchen counter cleaner
