Memorial Day is all about remembering, celebrating, and honoring those who have served or are still serving in our military. We wanted to thank the families of those serving for their sacrifices and remember those we have lost.

This video features four people from our companies that have served our country:
Ron Savarese – Army
Jim Davidson – Marine Corps
Bob Lay – Army
Jurgen May – Marine Corps

We hope everyone has a safe holiday and remember to thank all those who have served our country to protect our freedom!

Relay for Life Video: Surfin’ for a Cure in World Golf Village!

relay teamI can’t believe it came and went so quickly! We had a blast on Davidson’s Island – even though we were walking in 97 degree heat! Jim Davidson, President of Davidson Development, brought enough food for 200 people and Davidson agents and staff came out to walk for a great cause. We raised close to $2,500 this year, so THANK YOU to everyone who supported our team!survivor lap

Our two cancer survivors – Roberta Hicks and Davidson Agent Jock Ochiltree participated in the Survivor Lap to kick off the race at noon. It was very emotional to see all the survivors walking the first lap together. It gives me goose bumps writing about it now!

jock robertaRelay for Life is all about the effort to create more birthdays – celebrate, remember, fight back. The American Cancer Society did a wonderful job organizing the event and people were laughing, playing, and having a great time. We were surrounded by energy and fun! They had bands play, a 6 year old Elvis impersonator, a DJ, belly dancers, and a scavenger hunt. Teams were selling everything from cake pops to full meals. There were chance drawings for awesome gift certificates everywhere you looked!luminarias

Around 9 pm, the American Cancer Society committee members lined the track with luminarias with names of those that lost their battle with cancer. It was very hard to take that lap as a team, but it gives you hope that one day people will not have to hear those dreadful words “you have cancer” any more.

World Golf Village’s Relay for Life exceeded their financial goal with $45,000 raised and we know next year will be even better! Please enjoy the video of our 18 hour journey at Relay for Life.

Davidson Appreciates Teachers Announces Winners! Congratulations to Ms. Ledford and Ms. Kenyon!

My daughter entered the St. Johns County school system in August of 2010. My expectations were exceeded in every aspect from the technology in the classrooms and even the detail into making sure that the children are placed into the “right” learning environment. Since day one, I have been so impressed with Wards Creek Elementary. Our friends that have children in Mill Creek Elementary feel the same way! After becoming one of the moms that talk about the schools and everything going on in our St. Johns County communities, I started thinking about a way we could give back to the teachers that make such a difference in our children’s lives. That’s how we developed the “Davidson Appreciates Teachers” campaign. We have made it through the first quarter focusing on pre-k, kindergarten and first grade. It has been such an amazing experience!

184860_10150425359295385_243700390384_17202004_6571610_nI received over 75 nominations for teachers. The top 3 teachers from Wards Creek were Ms. Kenyon, Ms. Bielfeldt and Ms. Fisher. The top 3 teachers from Mill Creek were Ms. Ledford, Ms. Peska and Ms. Stewart. Over 200 votes were placed on Davidson Realty’s Facebook page for the top teachers. The winner for Wards Creek is Ms. Kenyon and the winner for Mill Creek is Ms. Ledford! Congratulations to both of them!!!184277_10150425361330385_243700390384_17202029_717259_n

I wrote a blog about the teachers at Wards Creek and Mill Creek being “bucket fillers”, so I thought it would be fun to fill some buckets with some goodies for the winning teachers. Thank you to Kathy Howell, store manager of Crocs. They donated new shoes for the teachers. I would like to also thank Andy Murray from Caddyshack’s for donating a gift certificate for each bucket. Thank you to Davidson Realty for the generous gift cards to Target and the other goodies that filled up the buckets! And last but not least, I would like to thank all of you for the time you spent nominating, voting and helping us fill the buckets of the teachers at Wards Creek and Mill Creek Elementary.

On April 1st we begin 2nd Quarter. This time we are focusing on 2nd and 3rd grade! So, get your nominations ready and send them to me, Kristen Calhoun at kcalhoun@davidsonrealtyinc.com or call me at 904.940.5000. Please share with me why you think your teacher is the best and enjoy our video blog!

The Davidson Realty “Tahiti” Golf Tournament

March 11, 2011

 |

What a day! The Davidson Companies started out playing the 18 holes at the World Golf Hall of Fame Putting Course as a shot gun start, so each team started on an assigned hole and finished 18 holes. We didn’t think the weather was going to pull through for us, but it turned out to be better than we could have imagined! The sun came out, there was a nice breeze blowing, and no one was sweating profusely (like last time!).

We had a blast – some teams stayed the same from last year’s “Hubble” Tournament (like Rick’s Chik’s) and some first timers got to experience a Davidson Outing for the first time! Everywhere I looked there were coaches, cheerleaders, and pros. I have to mention that I got 2 hole in ones and if you have ever seen me putt, you know that is a miracle!

Trophies, Awards, Recognitions & Accomplishments:
Shake Your Booty Award = Maxine
Married Couple Award = Sherry & Jim, Candy & Ed, Elsie & John, Beverly & Gene, Carly & Bruce
Hole in One Champion = Peyton’s Putter
2nd Annual Chik’s Alive Recognition = Jennifer, Michelle G, Vanessa (Ashley)
Best RSVP Award = Ashley’s New Belt – aka, the You-Go-Girl Award
“Coaching” Award = Jim
Kool Kat’s Award = Kodi’s Kats; Maxine, Sherry & Candy
TPC Trophy = The President’s Championship = Bruce, Carly, Harry & Allison
SAS-E Award = Shirley, Ana, Suzy & Ed

We finished up our great day with beer, wine, popcorn, nachos, and The Ultimate Wave Tahiti IMAX. What an amazing film! Everyone looked hysterical in their huge 3D glasses and enjoyed “riding” the waves with Kelly Slater. I can’t wait to do it again!
