Cowford Title, Leigh Insurance, and Chris Austin Support Davidson Cares Clay Day

 |

Davidson Cares Clay Day is a day to support organizations in Northeast Florida that are making a tremendous impact in the community. For seven years, this annual event has continued to bring together community leaders who are united in making the First Coast a better place for all. With the generous support from sponsors, Davidson Cares Clay Day is able to maximize fundraising efforts to make sizeable impacts on each of the organizations that benefit each year.

Cowford Title

For the last two years, Cowford Title has been the Davidson Cares Clay Day cart sponsor. Davidson Realty is proud to use Cowford Title services regularly and work with their team closely. “The team at Cowford Title has great hearts. They love to support the community, specifically foster children and other worthy local causes,” shares Sherry Davidson, President of Davidson Realty. Cowford Title is people focused and, like Davidson Realty, values relationships. “Cowford Title decided to continue to be the cart sponsor for Clay Day because Davidson Realty has been such a constant advocate for Builders Care over the years. Cowford Title is proud to support entities, like Davidson Cares, which has a long-standing record of giving back to our local community and supporting non-profit entities like Builders Care,” shares Chad Dean, President of Cowford Title.

Leigh Insurance

In addition to the sport shooting event during Davidson Cares Clay Day, a popular and exciting element is the raffle items. This year, Leigh Insurance generously sponsored the gun raffle and cigar table. This raffle item was a new addition this year, but one that caught the eye of participants and those interested in supporting the event. Leigh Insurance also provided each shooter with a quality cigar which made the event extra special. “Clay Day is a fun day that we look forward to each fall and a great opportunity to give back to the community. Leigh Insurance enjoys being a sponsor knowing the contributions are going to organizations doing incredible work. We are honored to participate and be a sponsor for Davidson Cares Clay Day each year,” shares Sally Jaudon, Business Manager at Leigh Insurance Agency.

Chris Austin

Many of the Davidson Cares Clay Day sponsors have truly become an extension of the Davidson Realty family, and Chris Austin of First Coast Mortgage Funding is no exception. “Chris Austin is a lender our team works with very closely. Chris has an office in our building and participates in many of our team activities like lunch and learns, pizza and personal notes, birthday celebrations, and our trivia night. Chris also recently joined our team in our ramp build with Builders Care,” shares Davidson. Chris Austin graciously sponsored the wonderful lunch for Clay Day and assisted with set up for the event. “Being able to sponsor the lunch for Clay Day was the least I could do to help the great charities Davidson Cares continues to support. To be a part of an event like this one that at the end of the day gives so much money to organizations that will help the people who need it most is an honor and a privilege,” share Chris Austin.

Record of Respect: Vallencourt Construction Company Supports Davidson Cares Clay Day

December 8, 2022

 |

From the inception of Davidson Cares Clay Day, Vallencourt Construction Company has been a major sponsor and incredible advocate for the annual event. The relationship between Vallencourt Construction Company and Davidson Realty dates back to the 1980s. Through the years the Davidsons have had the pleasure of working with three generations of the Vallencourt Family. Vallencourt Construction Company and the Davidsons worked together on various projects and Vallencourt Construction Company helped bring the vision of World Golf Village to life. From these various projects, a relationship built on mutual respect and admiration was formed.

“I reflect on the process and the development of our relationship with the Davidson Companies often. It is on the highlight reel of my life. Vallencourt started with some smaller projects and went through the typical bid process. The Davidsons were tough, but fair developers. They always did what they said they would do and provided clear direction. Our relationship was constantly tested in the heat of the construction process, as nothing ever works out perfectly in construction, but we could always count on each other and mutual trust grew,” shares Mike Vallencourt, Sr. “The feeling of trusting and not being betrayed. The feeling of being trusted and being true. That is the definition of character and these feelings are the reward of good character.”

Vallencourt Construction Company was established in 1945. With more than seventy years of experience, family-owned Vallencourt Construction Company provides clients an unbeatable value with their experience, strong workforce, and top-of-the-line machinery. The team at Vallencourt Construction Company continually seeks out new markets and projects. They believe this forward-thinking is critical to providing the best value to customers, opportunities for employees, and growth as an organization. Vallencourt has had a hand in countless projects over the years including RiverTown, Bannon Lakes, Beachwalk, and the Town Center Promenade.

“Vallencourt Construction Company is an organization with a strong reputation for their integrity and incredible craftsmanship. I have witnessed them go above and beyond to help their team or take the time to train people who they see potential in,” shares Davidson Realty President, Sherry Davidson. “Vallencourt Construction Company is constantly giving back to the community and is extremely generous. In 2006, the Vallencourt family established the Vallencourt Scholarship at Bishop Snyder. Each year, one young man and woman are selected to receive the scholarship for their exemplary work ethic. Vallencourt Construction Company are also strong supporters of St. Vincent’s Hospital and L’Arche Jacksonville as well as other organizations through sponsorships.”

Davidson Cares Clay Day is proud to have the support and sponsorship from Vallencourt Construction Company as they continue to give back in Northeast Florida. To learn more about Vallencourt Construction Company visit their website at www.vallencourt.com or call (904) 291-9330.

Enriching the First Coast: Davidson Cares Clay Day Supports Five Local Organizations

September 21, 2022

 |

As the 7th annual Davidson Cares Clay Day draws near, anticipation is growing to raise money to support five Northeast Florida organizations that enrich the lives of children and families. “The Davidson Cares team and many supporters look forward to Clay Day all year! Even after seven years, the enthusiastic support from our participants for the youth-based organizations the event will benefit remains inspiring. We look forward to another successful event,” shares Davidson Realty President, Sherry Davidson. The funds raised at Clay Day will be distributed to five local organizations in Northeast Florida: St. Augustine Youth Services, Investing in Kids!, Builders Care, Port in the Storm Homeless Youth Center, and Hope Restored.

St. Augustine Youth Services

St. Augustine Youth Services (SAYS) is a non-profit organization that has been serving children in its residential programs for boys since 1989. Over the past thirty years, SAYS has provided treatment to thousands of children who have suffered abuse or neglect in St. Johns, Flagler, Volusia, and Putnam counties. “Our relationship with SAYS started when my daughter visited the campus and met a six-year-old boy who told her how safe he felt at the group home. It broke our hearts. We then learned that this boy would age out of the program at eighteen and, although they may still be in high school, are not prepared to live independently,” shares Davidson. “The funds raised by Davidson Cares will help build a permanent large pavilion where these young boys can gather for birthdays, cookouts, graduations, and other celebrations.”

Investing in Kids!

Investing in Kids! (INK!) helps fund efforts to directly benefit both educators and students in the St. Johns County School District. Established in 1994, INK! is devoted to fostering success for students and teachers through funding, initiatives, and inspiration. “Davidson Cares has always supported local schools, but after seeing the impact of the Five Learning Years (FLY) and Take Stock in Children programs, I joined the INK! Board of Directors,” shares Davidson.  Take Stock in Children is a statewide program that gives low-income, at-risk students the opportunity to escape the cycle of poverty by offering students college scholarships and mentoring. This year, Davidson Cares has donated three scholarships for youth in the Take Stock in Children program.  “The graduation rate for students in the Take Stock in Children program is nearly 100% and many are thriving in college. So many lives have been changed by these two programs,” continues Davidson.

Builders Care

Builders Care is a faith-based nonprofit organization dedicated to providing quality, affordable to no-cost construction services to those in need of critical home repairs. “When I was asked to join the Builders Care Board of Directors, which is the charitable arm of the Northeast Florida Builders Association, I was inspired by what this organization has accomplished for Jacksonville’s most needy families,” shares Davidson.  Since 2001, Builders Care has served more than six hundred families to total more than $6.5 million worth of construction work for those who otherwise couldn’t afford it. For many, Builders Care is the last hope to maintain quality of life in their home. “Builders donate material, time, and money to ensure people can remain in their homes with dignity. Davidson Cares is proud to support this incredible organization,” continues Davidson.

Port in the Storm Homeless Youth Center

Port in the Storm Homeless Youth Center is a “port in the storm of life” for youth in St. Johns County who have fallen through the cracks. Port in the Storm is a safe place for youth to seek refuge as homeless or unaccompanied youth in crisis. Through the Positive Youth Development programming, caring adults provide stability, hope, and a path to a successful future. Port in the Storm currently provides 16 beds for youth needing a place to stay as well as drop-in resources on topics including life skills, job skills, and housing assistance. “Davidson Cares is excited to be contributing to the renovation of the shower area at the Port in the Storm facility which can be used by those staying overnight or hanging out during the day,” shares Davidson.

Hope is Restored

Hope is Restored is committed to raising awareness, educating, rescuing, and restoring victims of modern-day slavery: human trafficking. Hope is Restored was established to deliver a message, and bring hope and restoration to those seeking freedom. “The reality of human trafficking in Northeast Florida is rattling, especially how easily young adults are being coerced. Davidson Cares will be supporting education in our schools and to other local organizations to spread awareness and help prevent this awful situation from happening,” shares Davidson.

It is evident that these five organizations make an incredible impact on the First Coast community. Davidson Cares is proud to support their efforts and encourage the entire Northeast Florida community to join in their efforts by buying a raffle ticket or making a donation online, every dollar makes a difference.
