Davidson Cares Clay Day is not only an event that supports worthy causes, but unites people and organizations that believe that doing good makes a big difference. For the last four years, Watson Civil has generously supported Davidson Cares Clay Day as a sponsor and brought their enthusiasm to the event that helps so many. 

 

John Watson, President and CEO of Watson Civil, first met the Davidsons in 1996 when construction began on World Golf Village. “Whenever I was driving customers around the dirt roads to show off the development, John would always make sure I could get around the equipment and not get stuck. That was the beginning of a wonderful friendship!,” shares Davidson Realty President, Sherry Davidson. 

 

Watson Civil is a horizontal contractor that specializes in large site infrastructure, underground, and road and bridgework. Equipped with experienced staff, Watson Civil ensures projects are safe, run on time, and remain on budget. Watson Civil’s clients range from state and local governments to private developers and national home builders. 

 

Watson Civil is currently working on several projects in Florida. Most notably, Watson Civil is constructing Northeast Florida’s first diverging diamond at the intersection of J. Turner Butler Boulevard and San Pablo Road in Jacksonville, Florida. The project, which is expected to be complete in the spring of 2022, will cost $12 million dollars and is predicted to cut the number of collisions in the area by half.

The 5th Annual Davidson Cares Clay Day was held on October 29, 2020, at Jacksonville Clay Target Sports. Davidson Cares Clay Day included two-sport shooting events, beginner skeet, and sporting clay. Individuals and teams from beginner to expert levels were invited to participate and enjoy a safe shooting experience with no group gatherings. 

 

In association with the event, there was also a raffle contest. Prizes included a 65-quart YETI cooler with 13 full-size liquors.

 

The $40,500 raised from the event and raffles went directly to Builders Care, St. Augustine Youth Services (SAYS), and Investing in Kids (INK!) in equal sums.

The relationship between Vallencourt Construction and Davidson Realty dates back to the 1980s when Davidson Development President Jim Davidson was with Arvida Corporation and working at Sawgrass. Through the years, the Davidsons have had the pleasure of working with three generations of the Vallencourt Family. Since 2016, Landmark Title has been a gracious and generous sponsor of Davidson Cares Clay Day at the highest level. The relationship between Landmark Title and Davidson Realty dates back to the recession in 2009 when David Heekin, President and Founder of Landmark Title, was a vital resource in real estate short sales for Davidson Realty clients. During that time, David Heekin served on panels and provided training to help educate others in the real estate industry on short sale transactions. This partnership only continued to grow. In 2013, when William Li joined Landmark Title as a Vice President, Landmark Title rented executive suites in the Davidson Realty office due to their expanding business. William would often join Davidson Realty sales meetings, conduct contract training sessions, and serve as a valuable resource to Davidson Realty agents.

Generous Visionaries – Hutson Companies Supports Davidson Cares Clay Day

Since the beginning, Hutson Companies has been a major sponsor to Davidson Cares Clay Day. The generosity of Hutson Companies is truly admirable. In 2018, Hutson Companies pledged to match up to $40,000 as an additional contribution to St. Augustine Youth Services (SAYS), one of the organizations that benefit from Davidson Cares Clay Day. That year, more than $52,000 was raised and, thanks to the thoughtfulness of Hutson Companies, SAYS efforts to shape the future of at-risk youth was supported further.

 

The partnership between Davidson Realty and Hutson Companies spans many years. From helping Hutson Companies sell farmland in Elkton and Hastings to, most recently, commercial land in OakLeaf Plantation, the respect and trust between Davidson Realty and Huston Companies has formed a thriving friendship.

Community First – MasterCraft Builder Group Supports Davidson Cares Clay Day

For many years, Davidson Realty President, Sherry Davidson heard about an incredible event and fundraiser called Clays for a Cause hosted by MasterCraft Builder Group. Mastercraft Builder Group put together the event for friends and trade partners to raise money for local charities while enjoying each other’s company at the same time.

 

Clays for a Cause and MasterCraft Builder Group have not only been major supporters of Davidson Cares Clay Day but truly the inspiration behind it. “I drew inspiration for Davidson Cares Clay Days from MasterCraft’s Clays for a Cause because of how wonderful and fruitful of an event Chris Shee, Founder and CEO of MasterCraft Builder Group, had put together with this team. When I decided I wanted to do something similar, I reached out to Chris and he provided me the insight that allowed me to create an event that was our own,” shares Sherry.
