Mrs. Davis and Lucas - Our Back to School Coloring Contest Winners
Mrs. Davis and Lucas – Our Back to School Coloring Contest Winners

Beginning the school year is not always an easy task. Getting the supplies, the clothes, physicals and the paperwork done can be quite a challenge, but there is something to be said for the regimen that a new school year offers a family. For one, it is a new beginning, an opportunity for the whole family to grow and become wiser. Maybe wiser to how much growth your child has made over the summer. I look at my daughters and am in awe of not just their physical growth, but their intellectual strides as well. Not only do our kiddos need new clothes, but new books too! That’s why Davidson Realty came up with a contest to help Mill Creek Elementary and Wards Creek Elementary students have an opportunity to win $50 gift card to Barnes & Noble for a student and their teacher. The winning student was Lucas Kleiber in Mrs. Davis’s first grade class at Wards Creek Elementary. Congrats Lucas!!! What a sweetie he is.

Back-to-School for blogGiving Lucas and Mrs. Davis their gift certificates was a fun adventure. Lucas and I got to be guests on the afternoon news show. I shared with the students that starting today, October 3rd, I would begin taking nominations for 4th and 5th grade teachers at Mill Creek and Wards Creek for the 3rd Quarter of the Davidson Appreciates Teachers Contest. One student couldn’t wait though – Meenal Deshmukh from Mill Creek nominated Mrs. Jackson because “she is a wonderful teacher who makes the classroom learning exciting and fun.  She motivates the students to go above and beyond to perform their level best!” WOW! That is AWESOME! Here is what I am asking the parents and students at the elementary schools to do – call me (Kristen) at (904) 940-5000 or email me at KCalhoun@DavidsonRealtyInc.Com and tell me why your teacher is the best! Northeast Florida Real Estate Trends Remain Positive in August!

13155-Blue-Man-Reaching-For-The-Stars-Clipart-IllustrationThe greatest danger for most of us is not that our aim is too high and we miss it, but that it is too low and we reach it. – Michelangelo

I chose this quote because it seems as if our recent economic challenge has put many people in survival mode. Survival mode can distract us from our long term goals.  We must not think this way but keep reaching for the stars.

I will share an overview of the market stats provided by the Northeast Florida Association of Realtors starting with Pending Sales. August 2011 pending sales of 1,744 is 24% higher than August 2010 sales of 1,402. There have been some confusing monthly comparisons because of the tax credits last year, but the year to date pending sales for 2011 are 7% higher than year to date pending sales for 2010.

The closings for August 2011 are up 1.5% over the closings in August 2010 and the year to date closings for 2011 are almost the same as 2010. I would like to go a little deeper into closings and share that there were 691 traditional closings in August 2010 and 835 in August 2011 for an increase of 21%. The lender–mediated closings dropped from 729 in August 2010 to 626 in August 2011 for a 14% decrease. This is a very good sign when we have more traditional closings and less distressed closings.

The lender-mediated closings dropped from 44.3% of July 2011 closings to 42.8% of August 2011 closings. We continue to move in the right direction. Read more

Why Choose Davidson? Learn Why You Should Join Our Team!

September 20, 2011

 |

We have now covered how to get into the real estate industry, why it’s a great career choice, and what our agents love about their job. The final video in our career opportunity series covers why you should join the Davidson family. So, let’s take a look at what makes us different than the rest!

In the video above, Davidson Realty President Sherry Davidson runs through company awards and explains the family environment here at the office. Davidson Realty has been on the Business Journal’s Best Places to Work list seven years in a row and has topped the list twice. We have also been included on the Florida Trend’s list of the 100 Best Companies to Work For. In 2009, we were ranked number two!

Next, we hear from a few of our agents on why Davidson was the best fit for them. For Anna Decker and Michelle Santorelli, it’s the agent support and teamwork that made Davidson stand above the rest. For Amanda French, it’s our community involvement.

We then hear from Listing Coordinator Kristen Calhoun on everything she does daily to support our St. Augustine Realtors. And, we end on a great note as Sharon King talks about what makes Davidson so fun. We bowl, we boat, we putt putt, we go to the IMAX, and we all welcome the wine fairy on Fridays! The important thing is we do it together and we enjoy not only working together, supporting one another, but also being in each other’s company.
