From Army nurse to real estate agent: Kevin McGowan joins Davidson Realty

We are happy to welcome our newest agent Kevin McGowan to the Davidson team! His extensive background includes nursing and health administration, corrections and financial planning.

Kevin was raised in Colorado and served in the U.S. Army for 10 years, during which time he earned a licensed practical nurse (LPN) certification. He worked as an LPN and records administrator for several years. Kevin later shifted to corrections, working for an Ohio correctional institution for 17 years. Always looking to expand his knowledge and help others, he also worked part-time as a debt counselor.

Donations pour into Mirtha Barzaga’s annual school supply drive

Davidson Realty agent Mirtha Barzaga hosted her annual school supply donation drive last weekend, July 27 and 28, at the King & Bear and Heritage Landing amenities centers.

 

As a result of Mirtha’s hard work, many disadvantaged kids in St. Johns County will return to school with everything they need.

 

“Thank you to the residents, customers and my vendors who came out and donated this year,” said Mirtha. “It shows that when we come together, we can make a real difference for local kids.”

 

Some of the hundreds of donated items include 24 backpacks, 70+ notebooks, 100 folders, as well as calculators, pencils, markers and crayons, folders and plenty of required classroom items.

Michael Braddock Joins Davidson Property Management

We are thrilled to welcome Realtor and Property Manager Michael Braddock to our Davidson Property Management team! Michael brings nearly 15 years of industry experience to his new role.

 

“Michael is a great fit for our property management team thanks to his experience and dedication to building great relationships with homeowners and tenants,” said Sherry Davidson, President of Davidson Property Management.

 

The Georgia native earned his real estate license in 2005. He quickly found an affinity for property management, ranging from single-family homes to large apartment buildings. Michael later consulted with property management companies on process innovation and marketing strategies.

 

Looking to work with customers again, Michael joined the team at Davidson Property Management in June. He is also currently pursuing his home inspector license.

 

In his free time, Michael enjoys playing sports with friends, traveling, gaming and following Atlanta Braves baseball.

How to Find Your Ideal Square Footage

New construction homes in the U.S. continue to inch a little larger each year, however the number of family members in the average household remains steady. This leaves many buyers scratching their heads and asking, how much house should I buy?

 

Since all residents generally meander around the entire house, estimations are individual and approximate. Some online sources estimate as high as 1,000 square feet per person while others dip down to 100 square feet per person. Many estimates fall around 500 square feet per person.

 

One Atlanta architect recommends calculating a ratio between bedrooms and living space. He said, “A rule of thumb that we have is: for every bedroom, you need to provide places for two people to sit in the dining area and living area.”
