Davidson Realty: Spreading Good Cheer in Northeast Florida

December 22, 2022

 |

Since 1989, Davidson Realty has been proud to deliver expert real estate services to Northeast Florida. The same compassion and commitment given to clients for their real estate needs is also given to the greater community. Davidson Realty has created a thriving culture focused on serving all of Jacksonville and St. Augustine.

During this giving season, Davidson Realty agents have been hard at work to spread good cheer to their Northeast Florida neighbors. “Our agents are true servant leaders. They have a genuine passion for helping those in need and, at Davidson Realty, we celebrate that joy for giving,” shares Davidson Realty President, Sherry Davidson.

For the last eleven years, veteran agent Mirtha Barzaga, has held two food and toy drives to benefit the Homeless Coalition, an organization that provides clothes, food, and other supplies for the homeless. Mirtha calls upon her fellow Heritage Landing residents to help her support this worthy cause during her Thanksgiving drive and her many friends in The King & Bear for her Christmas drive. Several of her family members from South Florida come to support her efforts to bring joy to those less fortunate.

Similarly, agents Liz Pappaceno and Reba Barkley also enjoy giving back to the Homeless Coalition. Liz held several food and toy drives this season in Sevilla while Reba held her drive in Austin Park. Both Liz and Reba were overwhelmed by the generosity in the Northeast Florida community and are constantly taking advantage of opportunities to do good in the community and that spirit is contagious.

The joy of giving back to the community is a sentiment shared with all Davidson team members. Caitlyn Hawkins had a busy season of giving this year! Caitlyn organized and donated snack packs and food to the Beaches Mission House and BEAM Food Banks and donated toys and books to the local Foster Closet. Additionally, Caitlyn has spent time cleaning waterways and participating in beach clean ups throughout the year both with various organizations and independently.

Stacy Cornell volunteered her time and was a sponsor for the Belles and Beaus of the River Society event this December. “I was proud to sponsor three families in need by collecting items from an angel tree and presenting those items to each of the families at the conclusion of the event. This event is a highlight in my year and so well done with various activity stations, hot chocolate station, snow machine, a movie, and letters and pictures with Santa,” shares Cornell.

Doing good together is always a joy! This year, Reba Barkely, Candy Gil, Rebecca Schaffer, Jeanne Denton-Scheck, and Margherite Myers volunteered at the Northeast Florida Association of Realtors (NEFAR) Hunger Fight Pack-a-Thon event. These Davidson agents joined hundreds of fellow NEFAR members to provide 75,000 meals for hungry children, families, and seniors in Northeast Florida.

“At Davidson Realty, we are incredibly proud of our team and their various philanthropic endeavors,” shares Davidson. “Ultimately, we are grateful for the continued support from the community and, as a team, we hope to show our appreciation by continuing to give back and help our community be an even better place to live.”

The holidays are such a wonderful time of year to remember how important we are to each other.   We are so proud of all of our agents at Davidson Realty but specifically we want to recognize our top performers in November.  These agents embody our values of putting people first.  Please read on as they share their most memorable traditions or memories during the holidays.

Our Top Producer for November is Terri Apodaca.

Terri – Family is extremely important to me and the holidays always brought my family together, which I loved.  My mom was an AMAZING cook and from November to the new year, our home was always fragrant with the smell of homemade yeast rolls and every baked good imaginable.  On Christmas morning each family member had their special seat in our living room and we opened our gifts together.  I was thrilled when I finally became old enough to be the one to pass out the gifts to each person. My dad would always say, “You shouldn’t have, but I’m glad you did” when opening his gifts.

Our Top Producer for October with over $1.7 million in closings is Liz Pappaceno.

Liz – My most memorable experiences that I had in my real estate career is more than one with the same customers.  I met them when I was working rental in the Fall of 2014.  They were a British couple moving to Northeast Florida from North Carolina.  I was trying to find them a rental before they went back to North Carolina.  We found something on their last day here.  They applied for the property but did not have any way of getting the funds to the Property Management Company quickly for them to process the rental application.  I drove to the property management company’s office and paid the rental application fee in order for their application to be processed so they could secure the rental.

They did pay me back in abundance.  The story continues.

In 2017 I assisted them when they were ready to purchase their first home in the United States.  After showing them many homes, I showed them a house which was my listing (It was also my personal property).  During the Inspection process another home in the neighborhood came on the market which I thought was better suited for them.  They decided they liked the other house better.  I allowed them out of the contract and returned their escrow to them allowing them to buy the other home which they did.

They have referred me to many customers over the years but what I am most grateful for is their friendship.  If it was not for my real estate business, I would have never met them.  I am truly grateful for them and for all the other friends I now have if it was not for my real estate career.

I am truly blessed.

Our Top Producing and Top Sales Team for October is The Nemethy Group with Shelley and Tim Nemethy.

Our Top Producer for July is Margherite Myers with $1.2 million in closings.  Q&A with Margherite:

Q – What is the best advice you can give for someone moving from out of state?

Margherite – Since I have done this 6 times personally there are many things to consider.   First – Schools, even if you do not have children, top rated schools bring better resales with the home you are about to purchase.   Price is a big consideration.  Proximity to shopping and hospitals is also a consideration.  I personally drive through areas at all times of the day to see which communities I am comfortable in.  I am patient so if you are interested in purchasing here in NE Florida I am here to assist.

Our Top Listing and Overall Sales Agent is Mirtha Barzaga with over $1.2 million in overall sales. Q&A Mirtha:

Congratulations to all our Top Producers for July!

Davidson Realty is proud to announce our top agents for the month of July.  Get to know our top real estate advisors with a special Q & A with them.

Our Top Producer (Closings) for July is Mirtha Barzaga with $1.7 million in closings.  Q&A with Mirtha:

Q1 – What advice do you have for anyone looking to buy right now?

Mirtha – Get Pre-approved or have your finances in order before you begin your search.  Learn the different areas.  Your agent can educate and serve as a valuable resource in discovering what is ideal for you.  Plan your time accordingly for either a re-sale or new construction purchase.  If you are selling and buying, use the same agent for both transactions so they can coordinate the timing for both.

Q2 – What local charities are most important to you and why?

Mirtha – I support the St Johns County Homeless Coalition all the way, but also contribute to the American Cancer Society, the MS Foundation, the Alzheimer’s Association and the local Schools ROTC, Band or Sports programs.

Q3 – What is your favorite local beach spot and why?

Mirtha – Anastasia State Park, because it is surrounded by nature, and it just seems more natural.

Our Top Listing Agent is Margherite Myers with $900,000 listings sold. Q&A with Margherite:

Q1 – What is your favorite local restaurant and favorite dish to eat there?

Margherite – I have many favorite restaurants but I really enjoy going to the country club at TPC and ordering their flatbread with wine during Happy Hour .  They recommend great wines and they have become my favorites.

Ford Garage is also a great local restaurant and of course Caps on the Water for great seafood.
