For the past eight years, Davidson Cares, the charitable arm of Davidson Realty, has been a beacon of support for non-profits through Jim Davidson’s Annual Clay Day fundraiser. Their remarkable fundraising efforts, totaling almost three-quarters of a million dollars, have left an indelible mark on the local community. When selecting charities for its events, Sherry Davidson, president of Davidson Cares, focuses on finding charities that improve the local community and serve vulnerable populations, especially children in need, a cause that the late Jim Davidson was deeply passionate about. One of those charities, the Port in the Storm Homeless Youth Center, is a testament to the transformative power of caring.

 

Davidson Cares was inspired to contribute to the Port in the Storm Homeless Youth Center after one of its Clay Day sponsors, MasterCraft Builder Group, completed an emergency renovation of the facility after a flood caused mass damages just days before Christmas.

 

“We added Port in the Storm Homeless Youth Center as one of our charitable causes in 2022 after seeing the impactful work they were doing,” says Sherry Davidson, president of Davidson Cares. “The organization’s mission is so important, and the cost of providing those services is endless. Davidson Cares is proud to help them continue that work.”

Jim Davidson Annual Clay Day 2023 Recap

Davidson Cares hosted its wildly successful Jim Davidson’s Annual Clay Day fundraiser on Thursday, October 19, at Jacksonville Clay Target Sports. This charity event boomed back for its eighth year, raising $150,000 for local organizations that assist youth and Veterans in the community. This year’s event brings Davidson Cares’ charitable fundraising total to almost three-quarters of a million dollars. The event was made possible by title sponsors The Hutson Companies, Iventure, Providence Homes and Riverside Homes, 12-gauge sponsors Bird Dog, Matthews Design Group, Vallencourt, MasterCraft, Watson Civil, ECS, Bozard Ford, Sherwin Williams and many more.

 

“Our incredible shooters and sponsors really helped us turn it out this year,” shares Sherry Davidson, president of Davidson Cares. “I’m so proud of everything we’ve accomplished over the last eight years. Each Clay Day gets better and better. This year, our fundraising efforts exceeded our expectations enough that we were able to assist an eighth organization. The non-profits that we support are really the lifeblood of our community. They are the helpers our most precious populations turn to in times of need. How amazing that we’re able to show them support in return!”

 

The Jim Davidson Annual Clay Day fundraiser awarded donations to eight local charities:

 

St. Augustine Youth Services (SAYS) is a non-profit organization that serves at-risk youth through various programs, including coaching, counseling and care in family-style therapeutic group homes and outpatient community services. Opened in 1989 in downtown St. Augustine, SAYS now serves three counties: St. Johns, Flagler and Putnam. SAYS received $20,000.

Meet The Amazing Charities Davidson Cares Supports!

Davidson Cares is excited to host their eighth annual clay day fundraiser, which has been renamed this year from Davidson Cares Clay Day to Jim Davidson’s Annual Clay Day, after the recent passing of the beloved patriarch of the Davidson Family, Jim Davidson. The event will take place at the Jacksonville Clay Target Sports on Thursday, October 19, 2023. This annual sports shooting event has raised more than $577,785 for local charities that support youth-based organizations throughout Northeast Florida.

 

“We’re so honored to live and work in a community that supports our charitable endeavors, like Clay Day,” says Sherry Davidson, president of Davidson Cares. “This is such a fun event, and the funds we raise go directly into organizations that support, protect and uplift some of our most vulnerable neighbors. It’s also an opportunity to celebrate my husband, Jim’s, life. We miss him every day.”

 

Clay Day begins with registration and lunch from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Shooting starts at 2 p.m. Both new and experienced shooters are welcome. For a minimum donation of $400 per shooter, participants can shoot 100 sporting clay targets. Those new to shooting can shoot 50 skeet in a safe and comfortable atmosphere under the guidance of an instructor for a minimum donation of $300 per shooter.

 

This year’s Clay Day is proud to support the following charities:

 

St. Augustine Youth Services (SAYS) is a non-profit organization that serves at-risk youth through various programs, including coaching, counseling and care in family-style therapeutic group homes and outpatient community services. Opened in 1989 in downtown St. Augustine, SAYS now serves three counties: St. Johns, Flagler and Putnam.

 

 

Investing in Kids! (INK!) is the only direct support organization supporting the teachers and students of St. Johns County School District. The organization is comprised of dedicated community members who provide support through mentorship, volunteering and donations. For every dollar donated to INK! $.82 goes back into programming.

Davidson Cares Clay Day is a success because of participants and sponsors who truly love helping the community. Matthews Design Group has been a sponsor of Clay Day every year and enjoys having fun for a good cause.

In association with the event, there was a raffle contest. Prizes included a 65-quart YETI cooler with 13 full-size liquors and a 12-Gauge Beretta A400 XCEL Sporting shotgun.

 

Money raised from the event and raffles went directly to Builders Care, St. Augustine Youth Services (SAYS), Investing in Kids (INK!), Port in the Storm Homeless Youth Center, and Hope is Restored.

Since 2016, the Landmark Family has been a gracious and generous sponsor of Davidson Cares Clay Day at the highest level. Through Landmark Title’s nonprofit division, The Landmark Foundation proudly supports Davidson Cares. “As a public charity ourselves, The Landmark Foundation enjoys collaborating with like-minded individuals to help raise money for a fellow non-profit that does so much for the community,” shares David Heekin, President of Landmark Title. 

 

“Landmark Title has blossomed as a successful title company and The Landmark Foundation has graciously and impressively served and supported the community,” shares Davidson Realty President, Sherry Davidson. “I truly admire The Landmark Foundation for consistently sponsoring two Builders Care ramp builds each month. Over the years, the Landmark team has graciously shared their knowledge and resources with the Davidsons. During the recession, David Heekin provided invaluable insight regarding short real estate sales. Heekin lead training and served on panels to help educate others in the real estate industry about short sale transactions. In 2013, when William Li joined the Landmark Title team as Vice President, Landmark Title rented executive suites in the Davidson Realty office because their business was expanding so rapidly. Li would frequently join the Davidson Realty team for sales meetings, training sessions, and would always make himself available as a resource to Davidson Realty agents.
